SMOKING: EACH PUFF IS POISON


Smoke from each cigarette contains 4000 chemicals, of which 400 are poisonous and 40 causes the lung cancer.


Nicotine – Stresses heart. Causes Cancer Pressure and addiction (as bad as heroin or cocaine)


Carbon monoxide – Reduces the amount of oxygen in body.


Irritants – Same as those in floor cleaner, insecticide, mothballs.

Cancer of the lungs and many other organs


Heart attacks


Chronic lung diseases like bronchitis and emphysema

Blood vessel disease which leads to gangrene


High blood pressure, strokes and diabetes


Ulcers in the stomach and intestines

Babies whose mother smokes during the pregnancy are more likely to born premature or underweight.


Children exposed to cigarette smoke at home:


Fall sick more often with cough, cold, ear, nose and throat infections.


May develop asthma.


Have slower development of their lungs.
